“Espiritual y políticamente, nunca nos hemos rendido”

“Spiritually and politically, we have never surrendered.”

This article from Peru based magazine features an interview with NLC-WHIN's Jonathon Maza Kute of the Očhéthi Šakówiŋ, exploring the continuity of Indigenous resistance from first contact to the present. Published by Willakuy, it examines how colonization reshaped land, governance, and identity, and argues that modern resistance must focus on rebuilding Indigenous governance, transparency, and sustainable community systems. Resistance is framed not only as survival, but as active reconstruction rooted in culture and responsibility to future generations.
